I figured it would make sense in starting out with the woman who started the movement that is responsible for the formation of the Army of Angels — Angela Shelton herself! The information below comes straight from multiple sources, including her site at www.angelashelton.com. If you think I could type out and proofread all the information I’m including within these posts within a half hour per post — especially come about 12 hrs into sleep deprivation — you’re out of your mind!

You may have seen her on The Oprah Winfrey Show, 48 Hours Investigates, Lifetime Television for Women, or Larry King Live. Angela Shelton is a superhero goddess. She is a model, actress, comedian, public speaker, film maker, cook, and loudmouth. She pulled herself out of poverty and into prosperity and went from living in a trailer in the south to owning a home of her own and having a thriving career as an artist.
Angela has broken the mold since the day she was born and given a 50/50 chance to live at a measly 4 lbs 4 ounces at full term! She survived the incubator to grow a full 5 feet ten inches and she wears a size 10 shoe too.
NOTE: I thought this was pretty neat when Angela first mentioned it in a conference call because back in ’82 my twin brother and I were given the exact same 50/50 chance of survival when we were born 3 months premature. I went down to weighing just a pound after having to have open heart surgery at 13 days old, and my twin brother is now blind in one eye because the oxygen in those incubators can destroy your eyes. I didn’t break any mold because I’m only still 4 feet 11 inches. My shoe size is between 4 ½ – 5 in women’s. But I do like to brag that my twin brother and I kicked death’s ass. HA!
Real Blog Continued:
At the age of twenty-seven, writer and actress, Angela Shelton, who had already received accolades for her previous movie, Tumbleweeds, set out to create a documentary during the Writer’s Strike. Her goal was to survey women in America by interviewing the women who shared her name.
She threw a party to raise funds and convinced a crew of four to go on the road for 60 days in a rented motor home.
As Angela started interviewing other Angela Sheltons she found that 70% had been victims of rape, childhood sexual assault and/or domestic violence. This surprising journey also led Angela to confront her own abusive past and her pedophile father on Father’s Day.
The multi-award winning documentary “Searching for Angela Shelton” has started a grassroots movement of healing for survivors of abuse of all genders. This movement has led to the formation of the Army of Angels. The documentary has won over twelve awards including the Newport Beach Film Festival’s Outstanding Achievement in Filmmaking, the Durango Film Festival’s Audience Award, the Memphis International Film Festival’s Best Documentary Award and the Asheville, North Carolina’s Audience Award and Best Documentary Award.
Angela’s story and the film have captured media attention. Angela and her brother, Steve, appeared on The Oprah Winfrey Show and CBS’s 48 Hours Investigates. The hour-long special on CBS won 48 Hours Investigates the Shine Award for excellence in media. A one-hour version of Searching for Angela Shelton aired on Lifetime Television for Women in April, 2006.
Her documentary “Searching for Angela Shelton” is used in trainings, support groups, and is mandatory viewing in some sex offender treatment programs.
Angela not only inspires healing in survivors of trauma, she is also the superhero, Safe Side Super Chick, who teaches children how to be safe in the Safe Side video series created by Baby Einstein creator, Julie Clark, and America’s Most Wanted creator, John Walsh.
Angela has traveled the world, bringing her message of healing to audiences internationally. She demonstrates her methods for transforming your life and achieving your maximum potential, empowering anyone who is looking to make a positive change in his or her life. Angela Shelton’s honesty and humor is infectious. Through her animated and interactive performances, Angela candidly shares her own life experiences as a rape and incest survivor and her powerful techniques for letting go of unconscious negative thought patterns. She does this in such open, honest, and hilarious ways, that you cannot help but be moved.
Angela has quickly become recognized as one of the more outspoken voices for survivors of trauma. Due to the overwhelming response, the Angela Shelton Foundation was born with the mission of inspiring and empowering all survivors of abuse to heal and lead joyful lives.
Most recently Angela has started an online cooking show, “Stirring Up Trouble”. The reason she’s doing her show Stirring Up Trouble is because she has healed from her past and is no longer prisoner to it. She is dedicated to always moving forward as a whole human and as a woman. She just happens to be a great cook and has lots of information on wellness to share. She will cover all things from having healthy sex and relationships, saving money, saving your life, how to grow your own food, how to take care of yourself and how to find and use a turnip! It is a comedy cooking show that will also involve aspects of her life reality style! So get ready to have some laughs and learn ways to take care of yourself at www.stirringuptrouble.tv.
When she isn’t at her computer or cooking, she is with her dog Norma.
